Your sweet new baby has arrived, and you cannot stop taking pictures of them. Those phone photos can be sweet and amazing, but allow me to pose your baby for a professional photo shoot, and you'll be amazed at what I can do. I am NOT self-taught, I've been trained by some of the leading newborn photographers in the United States, and am also trained in newborn safety. There are two different types of newborn photo shoots:

Studio:
Location: In my studio
Age of baby: around 2 weeks old

Lifestyle:
Location: At your home
Age of baby: any age

Read below about both types of photo shoots.

Studio Newborn sessions

Colorful backdrops and set ups that will allow your baby to be the showcase in the photos, sweet little props that have them lay snuggled up so sweetly, that's what my photo shoots are all about. You can sit back, relax, watch tv, or take a nap here in the studio.
My professional studio is stocked with hand made props, backdrops, and outfits. I offer more than your phone can do. Photos that you will cherish forever.

Lifestyle Newborn sessions

At-home lifestyle newborn sessions are about the connection and love that you have for you new addition. During your session, I'll capture special moments with each family member and the baby as well as the family all together. If siblings are involved, we usually take care of those photos first so that they can go and play during the rest of the session. I love when family pets can join in too. It can be helpful to have a friend or family member at the house who can watch siblings during the rest of the session so that Mom and Dad can be in photos with the baby. There will also be time for photos of the baby alone; these are usually done when the baby is sleepiest. I take photos of babies swaddled or undressed and they are posed in a way you'd find them naturally.

Studio: I love to get your baby in the studio around two weeks of age. That way baby is still very sleepy, used to being curled up (from in the womb).
Lifestyle: Honestly, it can happen any time! Whenever you want!

If your baby comes early or late, totally fine - we will work around it and get you in as soon as possible.

When does the newborn session take place?

When should I schedule my newborn session?

It is best to schedule your newborn session in your second or third trimester. It's very hard to accommodate last minute requests. I only take 4 newborns per month, and after that I unfortunately have to say no.

How should I prepare my baby for the shoot?

Studio: I will send you a comprehensive newborn prep guide; however, you can look over this very simple checklist if you want a general idea.
Lifestyle: I will send you a comprehensive newborn prep guide that goes over everything needed to be done ahead of time, but mostly it's just decluttering in the rooms we'll be using (likely the family room, master bedroom, and nursery).

What do I need to bring?

Studio: I only need you to bring diapers, wipes, and however you're feeding the baby. I provide all the props, backdrops, outfits, headbands, bonnets, etc. You can take a tour of my studio to see everything!
Lifestyle: Not applicable. I'll be coming to you!

How long is a newborn photo shoot?

Studio: Newborn sessions almost always start at 9am and end by noon. This gives us plenty of time for feedings, changings, and soothing back to sleep. The entire three hours won't be for taking pictures. This allows plenty of time for all the time baby needs.
Lifestyle: Lifestyle sessions take about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Where will the session take place?

Studio: My studio is located in Frederick, Maryland, four miles from Route 70.
Lifestyle: In your home.
